Brooklyn has more top-notch neighborhood pizzerias than almost any other borough, according to a new ranking by Eater New York’s popular food critic Robert Sietsema.

Four slices from Brooklyn pizza joints, including two in North Brooklyn, were recently named one of the “Top 12 Neighborhood Pizza Slices” in New York City by Eater New York’s Robert Sietsema.

Only Manhattan tied Brooklyn for the number of slices on the list. The ranking also included two slices from the Bronx, one from Queens and one from Staten Island.

In Brooklyn, the top slices hailed from Espresso Pizzeria in Bay Ridge, King’s Pizza in Midwood, Rogelio’s Pizza in Bushwick and East Williamsburg’s Danny’s Pizza.

At Danny’s, the ziti slice reigns supreme, according to Sietesma.

“In many versions of this crazy slice the pasta is too soft, but Danny’s ziti is more al dente, making for a better chew, and the smothering of cheese makes this wonderful slice a satisfying full meal,” he writes.

The classic plain is the way to go at Rogelio’s, he says.

“The slices are flat enough to be easily folded and eaten while walking (the fabled “New York fold”)…For the plain-slice fan, welcome to nirvana,” Sietesma says.

Here are all 12 pizza slices that Sietsema put on his Eater list:
