Verby Nix, the founder and creator of “Go Fore Broke”, a popular new golf attire company that has been featured at the Emmys and other high profile celebrity events, is unlike anyone you will ever meet. Nix is living the American Dream! He is a proud single father raising two teenage children and two young adults in college, and started his new growing brand by taking a leap of faith, which he hopes inspires others to also follow their dreams.
The Levity Ball sat down with Nix to discuss his brand, his life and how he has gained so much positive feedback from countless celebrities and athletes since he first launched! (Tiger Woods, you better read this!)…
When did you first “know” that you wanted to get into the fashion industry with your brand “Go Fore Broke”?
At a young age I have always wanted to be my own boss, to be in the fashion industry that happened in 2004. Me and a couple of friends were kicking around the idea of coming up with different logos and making better quality items for less.
We love the name! What is the meaning behind “Go Fore Broke”?
Go Fore Broke means a lot of things, but for our company it stands for “No matter how minor or powerless you might feel anyone can achieve great things by continuously putting in steady, persistent effort and exerting one’s self to the utmost. By stepping out in faith believin g in what you can’t see but believe it is done.”

Pamela Skaist, Daymond John & Ralph Lauren
What has been the hardest thing you’ve gone through since starting your company?
Besides getting the initial capital, getting my name out there trying to make my name Go Fore Broke a brand name.
Have you found your shirts have made you personally a better golfer?
My game itself no, but the way I feel when I play 100% YES, most definitely.
What do you feel sets your brand a part from others?
Keeping the price down so that everyone can afford the product and the quality of the merchandise is on the top of the list… My logo is what sets this off, everyone loves it.

What was it like to see celebrities take a liking to your attire?
It’s great seeing celebrities in my attire. Their faces light up when they see the logo and the quality of the material.
What would you like to be remembered for as a person?
Giving people a great quality product and giving back to the community any way I can.
What is your advice to others looking at getting into the fashion industry?
Know what your dream entails, believe in what you want to do, stick with it no matter what anyone says.
How important is it to you that more and more people these days follow their dreams, rather than stay in a job they don’t like?
It is very important to follow your dream! That is what the USA is built on, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Colonel Sanders and many more these people did not fail, they found it was better to be themselves.
Where do you see yourself and company in five years from now?
I see myself and my company in five years will be a growing, big-dollar business. My brand will be all over the world from the PGA to LPGA tours.
