Tenacious D is rising from the ashes of slumber to release their long-delayed third junior record, ‘Rize of the Fenix.’ Kyle Glass and Jack Black are not new to the music world. Other than both acting in music-related films for years (High Fidelity, The Pick of Destiny) the duo have been crafting metallic-acoustic rock and roll for just over a decade.
‘Rise of the Fenix’ marks their first studio output since 2006’s the Pick of Destiny,” which was essentially the accompanying soundtrack to the film of the same name.
Tenacious D have been comedy-rock spectacles and mainstays ever since their debut self titled record in 2001. Their eponymous record earned critical acclaim and wide success for the duo. Yet their follow-up was exponentially less successful. Here is to hoping that ‘Rise of the Fenix’ keeps their comedic flair high and the musical writing chops that hearken back to their earliest material with songs like “Kielbasa,” “Wonder Boy,” and “Tribute.”
