It seemed like huge statement pieces were all the rage earlier this year. While we appreciate a bold style declaration as much as the next person, we also like a little subtlety when it comes to our jewelry. These are a few of our top trends for watch out for when it comes to figuring out which accessories to stock up on this season.
It’s Not the Size, It’s What You Do With It
One tiny trend that packs a big punch are stackable rings. While small and stylish on their own when combined well, a few nicely stacked rings can end up making a sophisticated statement. InStyle’s piece on seasonal jewelry to watch for notes that layers of thin rings and cuffs are on trend and are an understated way to outfit your fingers.
Cuff It
When she isn’t busy with the “Suicide Squad,” actress and model Cara Delevingne is busy setting the trend for just about everything. People are already going crazy for the lip cuff that she was spotted sporting at the Chanel Exhibition Party. Facial jewelry is very much in vogue. However, it’s even better that it focuses on lip cuffs and other removable pieces that don’t require you to go through the ordeal of getting pierced.
Where’s the Drop?
Some people call them bikini necklaces; when it isn’t swimsuit season people call them drop necklaces. Either way, this necklace style exploded over the summer and is still a great way to add some style and sex-appeal to any ensemble without going over the top. The necklaces seen on this Lyst page provided us with some inspiration for new necklaces and also taught us a thing or two about some really neat variations on the drop style from designers like Chan Luu.
The Power of One
One trend that’s has been catching on is the single statement earring. While you aren’t necessarily going to save any money—you still have to buy the pair—you can make a bold statement and change things up for your lovely lobes. This Refinery29 article profiling the trend recommends switching it up by wearing a larger statement earring for one ear and a smaller stud in the other for a striking juxtaposition. The one-earring look has even come back for guys; actor Justin Theroux was recently spotted sporting a solitary gold safety-pin.
Charms Get Magically Delicious
Charms, whether put on a bracelet or a necklace, are back and they’re not just for school girls anymore. We’re not just talking about hearts and unicorns either (although those are cool, too). Foodies are getting in on the fashion trend with a line of charm bracelets featuring different ingredients as the charms like garlic cloves and ginger roots. One designer put together an ingredient-inspired line named “Delicacies” with celebrated chef and “Bizarre Foods” host Andrew Zimmern, and all proceeds from the jewelry will go to charity. While the weirdest food you’ll find in these charms is probably the octopus (no hearts here), there are plenty of delicious charms available for even the most famished ….fashionistas.
