Tuesday April 23rd saw the gathering of many of the tri-state areas tastemakers and most dedicated to the cause of uplifting our youth, in support of a much needed initiative- THE LATIQ AGARD FOUNDATION. The scene, XVI Rooftop was pristine in decor, and perfect in atmosphere as many chattered over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in unified opinion that the task set out by the Agard collective is in dire need at this time.  With so many of today’s most at-risk demographic, young African American males lacking the guidance and model support needed to succeed, the Latiq Agard Foundation has chosen to take the reins and lead by example.

Guest speakers for the night included Jean Alerte, author and founder of the Do Right, Do Good movement. As a philanthropist, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, Jean Alerte has been lending his hand to worthy causes for quite some time. An advocate of mentoring himself, Jean Alerte supported The Founding of Latiq Agard through and through. Others in attendance were Javier Saldanas, CEO of Right the Wrongs, a Bronx based work force development program which targets the enhancement of job readiness skills in today’s youth. As a result of identifying the need for programming concentrated on the teaching and guidance of teens and young adults in the area of mock interviewing, resume prep, and more, Right the Wrongs has offered its mission to the cause.  Lastly, the renowned Dominique Sharpton, President of Education for a Better America spoke of encouragement, awareness building, and most of all the education of youth.

Treated to so many words of wisdom, event attendees surely left refreshed, and aware. Here are some snapshots of The Urgency of Now’s Night of Success
