The metal group ‘Underoath’ is heading for the exit in the coming months after a modest farewell tour.
The band had this to say in a public forum:
Over the past decade or so of our lives, we have been able to live a dream traveling the world, playing music that excites us, and meeting more amazing people than we could have ever fathomed, This couldn’t be a more bittersweet moment for us. We really wanted to just go out on the highest note possible. We don’t take this very lightly and it’s heartbreaking for all of us but all good things must come to an end.
The band has released seven proper albums in their career, beginning in 1999 with the notoriously out of print ‘Act of Depression’ and concluding with the progressive and absolutely phenomenal album ‘Disambiguation.’ The proper title is just a bizarre symbol that sort of represents the album’s titular sound (and is also the same symbol that makes up the letter “o” in the band’s formal styling).
Their latest record was vastly different from their oldest material, incorporating many progressive sounds and a more refined style. The most interesting aspect about the group is, as of their break-up and latest line-up, none of the original members are still in the group. The last original member was Aaron Gillepsie the group’s signature drummer and clean vocalist who exited the band in 2010.
The band scored a series of underground hits, particularly in their breakthrough 2004 album ‘They’re Only Chasing Safety.’
The group were Warped Tour staples in their decade spanning career, and despite a lot of grief from the metal community, there blending of various metal subgenres carved them acceptance and a certain respect from loyal fans.
